Right after the LVAD operation - Jan 2017 (ICU with family)
Today is my 2nd LVAD Anniversary or 'VADiversary’. Two years ago, I had my LVAD (HeartMate3, HM3) device implanted. The purpose of the pump is to help my failing heart function better - Our Rosalia named it the ‘Heart Mate’.
It has been a tough journey of hardworking, ‘heart’, focus, and patience. Thankfully, our efforts seem to be paying off and we know that all of these would be more meaningful to many others besides me. I am super grateful for my family for carrying me through all of this! I appreciate the sacrifices, the deferred dreams, the adapted hopes.
Big thanks to all my friends (and new friends I am making along the way) – Also, thanks for staying connected despite my hiatuses and my tardy replies.....
Special thanks for my medical team (Heart and Vascular Center, VAD Nurse Team, Cardiac surgery, Infectious diseases) and all the other staff great members involved at the Brigham and Women's Hospital involved in my care..... All of whom are going beyond and above to put me in a position to succeed in dealing with my hearthealth issues.
I am particularly appreciative of the other part of my health system - NHP/Allways Partners Health (my insurance), Abbott/Thoratec (the makers of my heart pump system), Alere (homecare and medical supplies), my pharmacists, and so many many more good people...
Lastly, I am forever thankful to all who are supporting us and making every day better, whether from close or from afar.
