Senior Research Program Manager

General Summary/Purpose:

In collaboration with HGF leadership and collaborating Principal Investigators, the Sr. Research Program Manager will have overall managerial responsibilities for their project teams and fiscal oversight for their assigned projects.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • The senior research Program Manager will be involved in scientific discussions with collaborators, Principal Investigators, and funding organizations and have the authority to make independent decisions about research aims and study design.

  • The Sr. Research Program Manager will support and guide research groups and assist Principal Investigators in submitting epidemiologic grant applications, IRB applications, and progress reports.

  • The Sr. Research Program Manager will execute project management processes and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time and within the budget, adhere to high-quality standards, and benefit the investigative teams by implementing new projects from conception through study activation.

  • The Sr. Research Program Manager will assemble project plans, team, and work assignments, direct and monitor work efforts daily, identify resource needs, perform quality reviews, and appropriately escalate functional, quality, and timeline issues.

  • The Sr. Research Program Manager will be responsible for tracking proposals and other documentation through signature/approval processes rather than through collaboration with Contracts personnel and IRB Navigators.

  • The Sr. Research Program Manager will serve a critical role as liaison, facilitate meetings between project stakeholders and leadership, complete and maintain professional documentation for projects and deliverables, and assist in auditing and monitoring studies.

  • The senior research Program Manager will use professional judgment in handling information and be sensitive to project team, individual, and organizational concerns. The manager will use data, statistical and quantitative analysis, explanatory and predictive modeling, and fact-based management to drive decision-making and help investigators develop new insights and understanding of epidemiological data.

  • The successful candidate will make data-informed recommendations regarding the possible causation of diseases and disease processes, their correlation with community conditions (to include social determinants of health), and the control of epidemics and eradication of disease)

  • The candidate will conduct literature reviews, support data-sharing agreements, assist in manuscript publication, and assist in strategy development and evaluation.

  • The candidate will be expected to operate independently, with guidance provided by HGF leadership.

  • The candidate will have background and experience in research protection, federal and regulatory issues, and research ethics.

  • This position requires a high degree of independent action and adherence to strict timelines.

  • Building and maintaining strong, trusting relationships is critical.

  • The successful candidate will have experience presenting to investigative teams, end-users (faculty and staff), and subject-matter experts. They must also possess excellent negotiation, facilitation, consensus-building, and diplomacy skills and exhibit a strong helpline orientation.

  • The successful candidate will be expected to stay current with a constantly changing clinical research technology and embrace innovations to modernize, disseminate, renovate, and remodel.

  • This individual will be a knowledgeable liaison between the HGF leadership and the research communities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • aster’s degree required in a related discipline (epidemiology, sociology, public health, etc.) or Ph.D. in a related field preferred.

  • Five (5) years of related experience delivering effective project management solutions, including significant expertise in conducting extensive research projects required.

  • Candidate Ability to make independent judgments and to act on decisions daily.

  • Ability to work for long periods without direction.

  • Ability to prioritize own work and the work of others as needed.

  • Solid organizational skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects independently and work constructively as a team.

  • Will oversee and coordinate the work of teams in other institutions.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Project/system process lifecycle experience, including 2+ years of direct project management.

  • xcellent leadership skills to negotiate and work collaboratively; service-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication and organization skills; knowledge of formal project management methodologies; experience in a higher education environment.
